My Hero was the 150th overall episode of The Jeffersons TV series, also the 15th episode of Season 7. Directed by Bob Lally from an original story written by Jerry Pergizian, Don Siegel, Peter Casey and David Lee, for a teleplay penned by David Silverman and Stephen Sustarsic, the episode originally appeared on CBS-TV on February 22, 1981.
George is hailed a hero after saving a woman from a mugging. However, later, George is intimidated by the mugger who threatens him which leads George to hire a personal bodyguard.
George tells Louise, Helen and Florence that he rescued an old lady from a robbery attempt by fighting off the perpetrator. However, when George learns that the criminal escaped from the police, George becomes frightened and confesses to Louise that he embellished on the story; the robbery was actually averted when George accidentally slipped on a banana peel and crashed into the criminal.
