Lionel Gets the Business was the 78th overall episode of The Jeffersons TV series, also the 17th episode of Season 4. Directed by Jack Shea and written by Nancy Vince and Ted Dale, the episode made its premiere on CBS-TV on January 14, 1978.
George is ecstatic when Lionel joins the family business, however ecstatic is not the word to describe George when Lionel begins making major changes and even puts into effect a half price sale, a change that could put George out of business.
Lionel gets laid off from his engineering job. Therefore, George hires him to work in his office as his vice president. However, Lionel turns out to be trouble when he started making executive decisions without George's approval. This includes spending company money on new furniture for his stores and blazers for his employees, and advertising a discount sale on cleaning. With all the commotion and chaos that follow, Louise tells George to fire Lionel.
