George and the Manager was the 25th overall episode of The Jeffersons TV series, also the 12th episode of Season 2. Directed by Jack Shea and written by Jay Moriarty, Mike Milligan, and Donald R. Boyle, it made its premiere on CBS-TV on November 29, 1975.
Synopsis[]
George's stubbron, adamant refusal to hire any women as a store manager leads to a battle between him and the rare united front of Louise and Mother Jefferson.
Storyline[]
When the manager of one of George's stores quits, longtime employee Emily campaigns to replace him. But George shows his male chauvinism by refusing to consider her because she is a female. Likewise when a qualified Afro-American woman shows up from an employment agency-George insults her so much she refuses to work for him. The subject soon begins a family feud with George versus Louise and Mother Jefferson. Too late George offers Emily a job..but she already quit to work at his competition...leaving George wondering who he is going to find for a new manager?
