Brother Tom was the 125th overall episode of The Jeffersons TV series, also the 14th episode of Season 6. Directed by Bob Lally and written by Jerry Perzigian and Don Siegel, the episode made its premiere on CBS-TV on January 27, 1980.
When two old friends of Helen's come for a visit, Tom feels like a "white" outsider in his own home. This prompts him to ask George to teach him how to act black.
When old friends from Helen's high school days arrive in town to visit, Tom begins to feel like he's a "white" outsider in his own home. This influences him to make the fatal mistake of asking George to help try to teach him how to "act black", which results in making him look silly, before he reveals that George put him up to it. After everything hits the proverbial "fan", Helen and her friends apologize for making him feel left out, as he then finally fits into the conversation at dinner with them and the Jeffersons.
